Never have a singing lesson without first meeting your prospective teacher and learning something about their method.
If you are given songs straight away, you are not learning how to improve your voice. Beginning to learn a good technique must come first.
If after four lessons, you cannot hear any improvement in your voice and still do not understand what vocal technique is, change your teacher.
A good pianist is not what is needed, if you want to learn how to use your voice.
